The Ohio State Buckeyes will still likely need some help to rise into one of the four spots in the inaugural College Football Playoff after taking down Indiana on Saturday.
However, the stars may be lining up for the team to bolster its resume' and standing in the playoff committee's eyes in the next couple weeks.
Here's Heather Dinich of ESPN.com with her analysis of the Buckeyes' current position:
The Buckeyes beat Indiana to clinch the Big Ten’s East Division, and Wisconsin also won at Iowa, putting the Badgers one victory from clinching the West Division. Ohio State should be able to avoid an upset against a middling Michigan team this coming week. There’s certainly no margin for error after the Week 2 home loss to Virginia Tech, but if Ohio State can pull off an impressive win against a ranked Wisconsin team to win the Big Ten title, that loss to the Hokies just might be forgiven.
Taking down a loaded Wisconsin team could be a huge key for the Buckeyes, especially in light of all of the publicity surrounding dynamic Badgers running back Melvin Gordon.
College football is largely about how you finish sometimes, and if the Buckeyes finish with a bang and a Big Ten title, the College Playoff Committee could have a really hard time justifying OSU's absence from the field.
