Columbus Police Sgt. Rich Weiner said that Karageorge died from what authorities believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Karageorge, 22, is a walk-on who was reported missing after he didn't report to practice on Wednesday or Thursday. His mother, Susan, said that before he went missing, her son sent her a text message reading "Sorry if I am an embarrassment, but these concussions have my head all (expletive) up." Karageorge's sister told the Columbus Dispatch that her brother has a history of concussions.
After Ohio State beat Michigan on Saturday, head coach Urban Meyer asked that Karageorge “Just come home safe, man.”
