In this Buckeyes football news update, as a graduate of University of Cincinnati and a former player for the Bearcats, Urban Meyer still roots for his alma mater when he can.
Except perhaps for this week.
His Ohio State Buckeyes (2-1) will host the pass-happy Bearcats (2-0) in the Buckeyes' final test before they dive head-first into their Big Ten schedule.
“I have a lot of respect for them,” Meyer said on Monday, via Tim May of the Columbus Dispatch. “They have been good in the past. They are exceptional now.”
Meyer expects the Bearcats to come out and try to throw all over the field, using Notre Dame transfer quarterback Gunner Kiel's skill set to the best of their abilities. With Kiel averaging around 350 yards passing in the Bearcats' first two games, that's not much of a stretch.
“This is the test,” Meyer said. “This is the one we’re all kind of shooting for. ... This will be a challenge for us.”
Kickoff is slated for just after 6pm on Saturday.
