Starting quarterback JT Barrett has led the Ohio State Buckeyes into the College Football Playoff conversation thanks to his dynamic skill set and the ability to lead beyond his years.
However, with the proven Braxton Miller returning next season from injury, the Buckeyes look to have a good old-fashioned quarterback battle in camp next year.
"Competition brings out the best, and I'm really excited to have two really good quarterbacks next year," head coach Urban Meyer said, via Doug Lesmerises of the Northeast Ohio Media Group. He then trailed off as his answer ended, adding, "if that's the plan."
Meyer was asked by Lesmerises after his initial comments whether he felt having this QB dynamic going into next year strikes his as a little crazy.
"I don't use the term crazy. I think fortunate and blessed are two things, because a lot of people would want either one of them," Meyer said. "Cause I think they're both excellent quarterbacks, excellent quarterbacks, and we'll worry about that day when it comes. But we're very fortunate to have those guys."
