In this Buckeyes football news and rumors update, the Virginia Tech Hokies come to Columbus uninterested in the prospect of a moral victory in front of 100,000 screaming fans at Buckeye Stadium.
In fact, the Hokies remain unshaken enough that defensive tackle Luther Maddy guaranteed a VT win earlier in the week. To his credit, he didn't back off of his statements when pressed.
“I’m really confident in our team. We’re a good, capable team this year and I think we can go up there and definitely pull out a W. If we play our best football, we can definitely get that win,” Maddy said, via Andrea Adelson of ESPN.com.
What makes Maddy so sure in the face of the one of the most rabid fan bases in all of college football?
“We’ve had two mediocre years so what me and the seniors did this year, is we made everybody aware of that -- that’s not the norm,” Maddy stated. “Everybody’s buying into that. We need to get back to 10 wins, get back to winning the ACC, get back to winning those championships. Everybody is buying in and working hard. In the offseason, spring and summer, I could see changes in their attitude and practice habits. They want to win.”
The problem here? Ohio State is just as hungry to prove themselves, especially with the underdog role they've assumed after QB Braxton Miller's season-ending injury.
