Buckeyes Football News: Noah Spence Suspension Update, Press Release Inside

In this Buckeyes football news and rumors update, the Ohio State Buckeyes won't have talented defensive lineman Noah Spence back in the lineup against Kent State due to what is being reported as another failed drug test.

Per John Taylor of NBC's College Football Talk, "ElevenWarriors.com first reported that Spence had failed another drug test and that his status with OSU was in jeopardy.  A short time later, the Columbus Dispatch reported that Spence had tested positive for ecstasy again, and that the results of the failed test were only received late this week."

Spence spoke to his parents, the Dispatch reported, “about having a ‘medical illness’ and is seeking treatment for it.” His parents stated in an email that “[w]e love him dearly, and our focus is to get him the best medical attention we can,” along with being “hopeful that Noah can get healthy and, at some point, resume his career with the Buckeyes.”

Ohio State issued a press release on the matter that only covers Spence's status for Saturday's contest:

Ohio State junior Noah Spence is ineligible to play for the Buckeyes tomorrow against Kent State because of a university and Big Ten Conference rule violation. Ohio State and the Spence family will continue to work with the Big Ten until there is final resolution to this matter.

Spence missed Ohio State's opening two contests for a violation of a Big Ten rule surrounding the use of illegal substances. His father had originally claimed that someone had slipped ecstasy in his drink at a party - thus resulting in a positive drug test the first time.
