In this Buckeyes football news and rumors update, just three weeks after The King's return to Cleveland, Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer issued an open invitation to Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James to attend any Ohio State football game he so chooses.
Per Ben Axelrod of Bleacher Report, James didn't take long at all to accept Meyer's offer.
"I think he'll be in town," Meyer responded on Wednesday when asked if James would be on the sidelines for Ohio State's tilt with Virginia Tech on Saturday.
If LeBron does happen to be on the sidelines during the Buckeyes' first home contest of the season, he will be positioned alongside some of the nation's best high school prospects. Urban Meyer has made the Buckeyes' night games a focal point to his recruiting pitches, and Saturday's home opener will be no different.
"[It's] probably the biggest of the year," Meyer said of the Buckeyes' Saturday showcase. "I just see who's coming. A night game in The Horseshoe—last year we had Wisconsin and Penn State [at night], and those were big hits."
Add a four-time NBA MVP to the mix, and you have a potential recipe for recruiting success in Columbus.
