The Ohio State Buckeyes are set to square off against the Oklahoma Sooners in one of the marquee games of the college football weekend. Even though the Buckeyes are playing the game on the road, there are plenty of reasons to believe they'll be successful. Here are three reasons why Ohio State will be Oklahoma on Sunday:
3) Explosive offense
Outside from a sloppy first half in a rainstorm against Tulsa, Ohio State's offense has been the best in the country. They rank fifth nationally in yards per game (597), and more importantly, rank second in points per game (62.5). Oklahoma's gameplan is built around the offense outscoring their opponents, and that's something they simply won't be able to do against the Buckeyes.
2) Oklahoma's lackluster defense
Another reason why Ohio State's offense will have a field day is because of the fact that Oklahoma's defense hasn't shown the ability to stop them. They gave up over 400 yards of total offense to Houston in the season opener, and worse, allowed the Cougars to get nine first downs (of note, Houston and Ohio State run very similar offenses, as Cougars head coach Tom Herman was the offensive coordinator of the Buckeyes before leaving for Houston). Those numbers aren't an anomaly either - even Lamar racked up 350 total yards last Saturday. With J.T. Barrett at the helm, don't be surprised to see the Buckeyes put 50 (or more) on the board in Norman.
1) Urban Meyer > Bob Stoops
This is exactly the type of game that Urban Meyer thrives in - and the kind of game in which Bob Stoops has earned that reputation for underachieving. Oklahoma is just 3-5 in their last eight games against ranked non-conference opponents, while Ohio State is 3-1 in such games under Meyer. A master motivator and game strategist, Meyer will have the Buckeyes ready to go and playing at an extremely high level - a level history suggests the Sooners won't be at.
