The Ohio State Buckeyes 2015 spring practice session is officially in the books' after the completion of Saturday's annual spring game. Buckeyes fans set a spring game attendance record by packing 99,391 into Ohio Stadium to watch the Gray Team nip the Scarlet Team 17-14. While the score means bragging rights for the guys in Gray, the game was more about getting a look into the near future of Buckeyes football.
Here's 3 Things We Learned From The Ohio State Football Spring Game.
1. Corey Smith Is Really, REALLY Good
QB Cardale Jones dazzled with 300-plus passing yards, but it was wide receiver Corey Smith who stole the day on the offensive side of the ball for the Buckeyes. Smith posted six catches for an eye-popping 174 yards and two touchdowns, transitioning impressive catches into huge plays with smart route running and pure explosiveness. With Devin Smith gone, the time could be now for yet another Smith to pick up where he left off.
2. The Buckeyes' Defense Is Scary Deep
The usual suspects of Joey Bosa, Vonn Bell, and Raekwon McMillan are primed and ready to dominate the Big Ten in 2015, but there's plenty of depth behind them to suggest that Ohio State's defense is much more that a three-trick pony. True freshman Nick Conner could very well factor in as a key part of that insane Buckeyes defensive depth chart after picking off Scarlet QB Stephen Collier twice and recovering a fumble in the game's opening moments.
3. Cardale Jones Can Throw A Damn Football
