With star player Antonio Campbell sitting out due to injury, the Ohio Bobcats looked physically outmatched on the road against the Akron Zips, falling by a final score of 83-68.
Akron (15-3, 5-0 Mid-American) now has a two-game lead over Ohio (11-5, 3-2) in the MAC Eastern Division. The Bobcats have lost back-to-back games since Campbell – Ohio’s leading scorer and rebounder on the season – sprained his right foot against Eastern Michigan on Tuesday.
Akron’s big-men starting duo of Kwan Cheatham and Isaiah Johnson proved too much for the Campbell-less Bobcats to handle inside. Johnson, at 6-foot-10 and 290 pounds, had his way in the paint against Ohio, finishing with 15 points and nine rebounds.
