With Campbell gone, Laster could be Bobcats’ X-factor

The Ohio University Bobcats may have a new sixth-man emerging after former sixth-man Jason Carter was pushed into the starting center position following Antonio Campbell’s season-ending foot injury.

Carter made sure the ’Cats didn’t miss a beat without the reigning MAC Player of the Year, as the freshman posted a double-double in his first career start. He had 15 points and 12 rebounds in Ohio’s 78-69 road win Saturday against Northern Illinois.

Yet, a 14-point performance off the bench from junior guard Mike Laster resonates even more as the most encouraging sign that Ohio (12-5, 4-2 MAC) can remain competitive for a Mid-American Conference title this season despite losing its best player.
