Mike McQueen and Ian Wells had polar opposite reactions to similar circumstances.
Both are Ohio University football players who were hoping to hear their name selected during the 2016 NFL Draft. Neither got the call during the three-day process, but both had secured undrafted free agent contracts shortly after the draft’s completion on Sunday.
The pair were part of a trio of Bobcats to earn NFL opportunities earlier this week. Wells secured a free agent contract with the Detroit Lions, McQueen earned a free agent deal with the San Diego Chargers, and Lucas Powell was invited to the Cincinnati Bengals rookie mini-camp for a tryout.
