A.J. Gareri, a freshman forward with the Ohio University men’s basketball teams, has asked for and been granted a release from his scholarship, Ohio head coach Saul Phillips confirmed this week.

Gareri, a stretch 4 at 6-foot-9, never found his footing in one season with the Bobcats. He appeared in just 10 games during the 2017-18 season, shot 22.2 percent overall and averaged 0.9 points and 0.7 rebounds per game.
