This time last year, Ohio pitcher Savannah Jo Dorsey struggled watching her teammates grind through a season of unfulfilled expectations. Dorsey, who was out with a back injury, couldn't relieve Ohio from floundering a year removed from a Mid-American Conference title.
This season, Dorsey has returned in dominating fashion, leading Ohio to its fourth 30-win season in program history. Dorsey capped off her remarkable regular season in 2016 by capturing this season's Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Year award, the conference announced Tuesday.
Sporting a 21-11 record, 1.66 earned run average and a 294:72 strikeout-to-walk-ratio, Dorsey cemented her status as arguably Ohio’s greatest pitcher of program history.
