Sophomore pitcher Danielle Stiene doubled as a firefighter during the Bobcats’ home finale at the Ohio Softball Field on Saturday.
Stiene was called on to squash several potential Buffalo rallies, and swapped from designated player to pitcher twice, as Ohio held off the Bulls 2-1 to win a three-game Mid-American Conference series.
Ohio (30-21, 11-9 MAC) never trailed on Saturday after spending the bulk of 17 innings on the wrong side of the score in a split doubleheader on Friday against the Bulls.
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the second, and then snapped a 1-1 tie with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
