Monday during the Ohio Bobcat men’s team’s 72-67 victory over University of North Carolina-Greensboro, Jaaron Simmons broke a record many had thought was unbreakable. With 13:17 left in the first half, Simmons assisted Tony Campbell with a no-look, wrap-around pass that put Campbell in the perfect position to score an easy two points.
Simmons’ assist was his 264th of the season, surpassing the 263 assists former Ohio great D.J. Cooper put up during the 2010-11 season. Simmons added another four assists to his total Monday, and now has 268 for the season. His record-breaking assist was simply the type of play he makes almost every time he steps on the court.
