Five months ago, Frank Solich said he was “adapting” his program’s approach in recruiting.
The Bobcats, stung in recent years by a handful of promising recruits failing to qualify for entrance into Ohio University, were going to be more selective in which players they pursued in respect toward academics.
“Absolutely that has been a factor,” Solich said in early February, on the day Ohio announced its 2016 recruiting class. “That is becoming more and more important for us, and I feel very confident about that with this group we’re bringing in.”
Solich’s faith appeared to be on the mark.
