Former Ohio men’s basketball coach Tim O’Shea christened a catch phrase during his time with the Bobcats that stuck around far after he left, and became a bit of a rallying cry for teams throughout the Mid-American Conference.
It was a way of saying — shortly and succinctly — that winning road games in the MAC was difficult for a wide variety of reasons. And winning true road games remains one of the toughest things to do in college basketball according to conventional wisdom.
And the numbers backed O’Shea up. From 2000-12, home teams won 66.3 percent of the games in conference play in the MAC.
