Road kill: Bobcats notch 81-79 victory in thriller

TOLEDO — Antonio Campbell said he was scared. Jaaron Simmons said time slowed to a crawl.

And Saul Phillips? He admitted to muttering inappropriate language.

For one second, the Bobcats mentally prepared themselves for an inconceivable, devastating road loss. And then the ball caught rim, Treg Setty caught the rebound, and Ohio’s collective hearts were no longer caught in their throat.

Ohio picked up its first road win of conference play this season with a heart-stopping 81-79 victory over Toledo inside Savage Arena on Tuesday night. The Bobcats led virtually from start to finish, and by more than 20 points several times, but needed Jonathan Williams’ late miss on a 3-pointer from the right side in the final seconds to hold on.
