MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Ben Vander Plas had never been better in an Ohio uniform.
Vander Plas, a redshirt freshman forward, had career highs of 24 points and 13 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as Central Michigan held off Ohio, 87-80, inside McGuirk Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The loss was the fifth in a row for Ohio (11-13, 3-9 MAC). The Bobcats fell to 0-7 against CMU under head coach Saul Phillips. The ‘Cats last win at CMU came in 2013.
The Chippewas (17-8, 6-6 MAC) snapped a two-game slide with the win, and had every starter reach double figures.
