Coming into last season, the Ohio University men’s basketball team had lost just one player from the previous year. It’s not the same this time around.
Antonio Campbell, the 2016 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, was denied a medical redshirt after suffering a season-ending injury last year. Kenny Kaminski, the man who lived and died by the three-pointer, played professionally in Spain after graduating. Campbell and Kaminski were expected to leave; that was not a surprise.
Jaaron Simmons took over the team when Campbell went down and dominated the court, averaging just over 20 points per game in Campbell’s absence.
