A neutral site and an extra week off didn’t provide enough help for the Ohio Bobcats’ defense in preparing for the Virginia Cavaliers. The Cavaliers scored early and often and left Nashville with a 45-31 victory over the Bobcats.
Ohio and Virginia played the game at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, as a result of concerns about the adverse effects on Charlottesville, Virginia, because of Hurricane Florence.
Virginia’s senior running back Jordan Ellis put the Cavaliers up 21-7 with just over six minutes left in the first quarter. Ellis rushed 75 yards for the score on the first play of the drive.
