Johnson leads Ohio past NIU, 69-53

Boldon said Ohio was the worst defensive team in the conference and had the numbers to back it up.

Ohio turned in another good defensive outing, and worked over Northern Illinois — 69-53 — Wednesday night in the Huskies' Convocation Center. The Bobcats (16-1, 5-1 Mid-American Conference) held NIU to 30 points below its season scoring average at home.

Northern Illinois (11-7, 3-3 MAC) was held to just 27.4 percent shooting. The Huskies, the top rebounding team in the conference, were out rebounded 51-45.

“To get a road win in this conference…they’re all important,” Boldon said via a radio interview afterward.
