No court storming took place at the Convocation Center on Tuesday evening. No. 19 Buffalo Bulls (27-3, 15-2 Mid-American Conference) came to Athens just weeks after blowing out the Ohio Bobcats (13-16, 5-12 MAC) by 47 points in Buffalo. The difference in Tuesday’s 82-79 Buffalo victory was not a record number of points, but rather one final unsuccessful heave for the ’Cats.
Buffalo scored seven of its last nine points on free throws by senior C.J. Massinburg. The guard scored 17 points and had a chance to add two more with less than two seconds left.
Massinburg, who prior to shooting his final free throws was 11-12 at the line, missed both shots, and Bobcat senior Gavin Block grabbed the rebound, took some steps forward, and threw one final desperation heave.
