The Ohio University softball team begins play in the 2016 Mid-American Conference Tournament on Wednesday.
The Bobcats (33-21), as the third-seed in the bracket, will have a shot to win it. After all, Ohio does field the conference’s pitcher of the year.
Redshirt junior pitcher Savannah Jo Dorsey was name the 2016 MAC Pitcher of the Year on Tuesday, after a vote conducted by the league head coaches. It’s the first such honor for Dorsey, who also earned First Team All-MAC honors.
All told, Ohio ended up with five all-conference selections. Sophomore Taylor Saxton, sophomore Danielle Stiene and freshmen Morgan Geno and Jamie Wren all were named Second Team All-MAC; Geno and Wren also were named to the MAC All-Freshman Team.
