Through two games so far this season, Ohio Bobcat place-kicker Louie Zervos has made nine of 10 field-goal attempts. That’s more than half the 16 field goals that Josiah Yazdani made as Ohio’s starting place kicker last year.
While the increase in production from Ohio’s new redshirt freshman kicker is great, it also suggests a greater problem for the Bobcats: failure to score touchdowns in the red zone. So far this season, Ohio (1-1, 0-0 MAC) has converted just six of its 15 red-zone possessions into touchdowns.
In Saturday’s 37-21 road win against the Big 12’s Kansas, the Bobcats picked up their first win of the season, with the offense amassing 496 total yards.
