The Ohio Bobcat men, of course, would have liked to have beaten the Akron Zips on Tuesday. A win, on the road no less, would have brought the Bobcats into a tie with the Zips atop the Mid-American Conference. A victory also would have guaranteed a top-four seed in next week’s MAC Tournament.
The Bobcats, alas, fell behind early, rallied and fell behind again in a 91-76 loss to Akron. The Zips, who entered the game as the best three-point shooting team in the conference, made a program record 20 threes and cruised late to a win. Ohio, by comparison, only made eight.
