Pat Durant, the lead communications director for the Ohio hockey team, was selected for the Brian Fishman Internship, the team announced Wednesday.

The Fishman Internship is an annual award given to a college graduate pursuing a career in the field of athletic communications. The internship posthumously honors Brian Fishman, the manager of communications and marketing for the USA Hockey National Team’s Developmental Program. Brian died in 1999. He was 28 years old.

Durant, a native of New York, will spend the next 24 months doing promotional work for multiple publishers including US Hockey Magazine.

“I want to thank the Fishman family and USA Hockey for this tremendous opportunity,” Durant said through the USA Hockey press release.
