Northern Illinois defensive end Sutton Smith is one of the best football players not just in the Mid-American Conference but in the entire nation.
With just over seven minutes left in Saturday’s game against the Ohio Bobcats, Smith chased down Bobcat quarterback Nathan Rourke and sacked him, ripped the ball away and recovered his own forced fumble. It was Smith’s second sack and second fumble recovery in the 24-21 victory over Ohio.
By that point, Ohio’s 21-9 lead had already dwindled to 21-16, and given a golden opportunity after the fumble, the Huskies scored once more for a game-winning touchdown.
