The Ohio Bobcats met reality Friday night when the Purdue Boilermakers, only a four-point favorite over the Bobcats, won easily 44-21.
A chance for a Power Five win was dangled in front of Ohio (1-1) and missed, and will be again this Saturday when the Kansas Jayhawks (1-1) come to Athens. Prior to the season, both Purdue (1-1) and Kansas were thought to be winnable games for the ’Cats. After the Boilermaker beat-down in West Lafayette, Indiana Friday night, Ohio will need to make some changes in order to have a fighting chance against the Jayhawks.
If there was any doubt that a battle for starting quarterback was raging between Quinton Maxwell and Nathan Rourke, there isn’t now.
