The Ohio Bobcats women’s basketball team came into Saturday’s game vs. the Northern Illinois Huskies in need of a win. It’s not that the ’Cats needed a victory to stay relevant in the Mid-American Conference; they needed one to serve as a palate cleansor of sorts.
The Bobcats came into Saturday’s home game fresh off a loss to the Buffalo Bulls last Wednesday that snapped their 12-game wining steak. In their loss – their first and only in conference play – the women’s team made just 27.7 percent of its shots and sputtered to a 51-43 loss. The loss was also a culmination of weeks during which the Bobcats lacked fire and energy on the court, as team after team attacked Ohio (18-4, 10-1 MAC) with something extra in hopes of beating the defending MAC champs.
