DEKALB, Ill. — The seconds ticked off the clock, the Bobcats were bopping up and down on the sideline and Quentin Poling took a moment in the frigid air to state the obvious.
“How about that string now? 22-1!,” Ohio’s sophomore linebacker said.
Visiting Ohio got four field goals from Josiah Yazdani, a solid defensive effort and the ground-and-pound stylings of A.J. Ouellette to stun Northern Illinois 26-21 on Tuesday night inside Huskie Stadium.
The victory was a big one for Ohio (8-4, 5-3 MAC), which won its third straight game and ended — for now — NIU’s reign of terror in the Mid-American Conference.
