The Ohio men pummeled visiting Marshall Saturday, racing out to an 18-point first-half lead and watching it grow to as many as 25 before coasting to a 101-84 final.
It was the Bobcats’ fifth consecutive home win to start the season, their third in a row since returning stateside, and given the caliber of the competition, it was easily their most impressive of the lot.
“We came out on the defensive end and were very engaged,” summarized Ohio coach Saul Phillips. “Our help-side defense affected their game, made them uncomfortable whenever they turned the corner.
“I was told that if you could hold Marshall to eight 3-pointers, it would be a winning number,” he said.
