Bobcats outlast Tigers, 72-67

Antonio Campbell said it was a weird game, several times.

Saul Phillips admitted his daughter wondered if Ohio won the game at all after hearing his postgame speech.

So that left it to Jaaron Simmons to put the Bobcats’ 72-67 home win over Jackson State into perspective.

“We won. Be happy,” Simmons said.

Simmons, Ohio’s sophomore point guard, did everything else on Thursday night inside a townie-heavy (aka student-less) Convocation Center. Simmons played a full 40 minutes, and scored a game-high 17 points to go with eight assists and six rebounds.

And with the game tied up with less than eight minutes to go, Simmons shouldered the toughest defensive assignment.
