Though happy with his team’s success, Jaaron Simmons wanted to feel more like an integral part of the proceedings, said Ohio men’s basketball coach Saul Phillips.
“He kind of felt just like another guy out there (during Ohio’s win on Tuesday),” Phillips said. “But today, I had a feeling. He just had that look in his eyes.”
There was no overlooking Simmons on Saturday. The sophomore point guard scored a game-high 25 points, missed just one shot overall, and helped steady the Bobcats down the stretch as Ohio whipped Miami, 76-64, inside the Convocation Center.
Simmons was 8 of 9 from the field, with three 3-pointers, and added four assists, two rebounds and a steal.
