No, the senior linebacker didn’t show up one day and get plugged into the line up and start generating tackles, hits and plays. It’s been a step-by-step process for Gullett, a former baseball player at the University of Toledo before his now three-year stint as a footballer at Ohio.
“I got an opportunity my first year (2016). It was on the kickoff team, at Tennessee,” Gullett said Monday. “It went well.
“I got more chances, more spots on special teams, starting playing on defense,” he continued. “I just kept on working until I got my opportunities.”
Gullett got his second start of the season on Saturday, and he’s played well at a first-time front of the rotation player this fall.
