KENT, Ohio — There were lots of reasons Frank Solich could have been a walking version of a raw, angry nerve.
The Bobcats’ offense stalled, then fell off the map. Ohio started a different quarterback for the first time this season, but the change failed to energize a suddenly stagnant passing game. The ‘Cats crossed the opponent’s 40-yard line just three times, and finished -3 in the turnover column.
But there was one reason — the only one that counted — why Solich wasn’t chewing nails.
Ohio turned in a handful of big defensive stands, and one critical offensive possession late, to escape Dix Stadium with a 14-10 win over Kent State on Saturday afternoon.
