Ohio now has a new sense of clarity about the quarterback position.
But it’s for a reason none of the Bobcats anticipated.
Redshirt senior quarterback J.D. Sprague has left the team, Ohio head coach Frank Solich said Wednesday following the Bobcats’ morning practice inside Walter Fieldhouse.
Sprague last practiced with Ohio during Monday’s afternoon session. Solich said Sprague informed him, and co-offensive coordinators Tim Albin and Scott Isphording, of his decision that day.
Sprague wasn’t at Tuesday’s practice, nor Wednesday morning’s workout.
“He’s decided that he doesn’t want to continue,” Solich said.
Sprague, along with redshirt senior Greg Windham and redshirt freshman Quinton Maxwell, was one of three candidates in Ohio’s fall camp battle to be the team’s starting quarterback.
