Bobcats come up short, 80-68, against Zips

Needing a bucket, the Zips found the bottom of the net.

Needing offense to match, the Bobcats missed from close range or turned it over.

Ohio’s two-game winning streak came to an aggravating (for the Bobcats) end Tuesday night as Akron held the lead for the final 35 minutes in an 80-68 decision inside the Convocation Center.

The Zips (18-4, 7-2 Mid-American Conference) took over sole possession of first place in the MAC with the win, their fifth straight, with a performance that was quintessential Akron. The Zips got tough scores when needed, and enough stops along the way, to short out the momentum Ohio (13-8, 4-5 MAC) had built with a two-game win streak.
