A dominant second half by the Ohio Bobcats led to a 89-65 victory over the Iona Gaels Tuesday evening at the Convocation Center.
The Bobcats came into the meeting as the worst three-point shooting team in the country and have had trouble getting baskets to sink. They transferred those struggles to Iona, who netted just 28 points in the second half.
The Gaels started the evening averaging 79.8 points per game, but shooting just 32.3 percent from the field for the game and 24.1 percent (7-29) in the second half brought them down.
“You’d have to be pretty grumpy to grade that defensive effort as anything other than an A-plus,” Ohio Head Coach Saul Phillips said about his team after the game.
