Entering Tuesday’s game against No. 19 Buffalo, the idea of an Ohio Bobcat victory seemed like a long shot. At the end, that’s what it came down to. One long shot.
Buffalo senior guard C.J. Massinburg went to the free-throw line ahead 82-79 with just under two seconds remaining. His first shot missed and then his second rimmed out as well. Moments later, with one last heave, Ohio senior Gavin Block heaved a final shot. It went off of the left side of the backboard, and Buffalo escaped as 82-79 winners.
Ohio, who lost the first meeting at Buffalo 114-67, trailed by just one point with 5:32 left in this game.
