Heading into the bottom of the fifth inning of Saturday’s game between Ohio and Ball State, the Bobcats held a commanding 13-4 lead and seemed well on their way to a series-clinching win.
Instead, the Cardinals rattled off 13 runs throughout the next four innings, exploded for 20 on Sunday and sent Ohio home more than a little shell-shocked.
The Bobcats won Friday’s season opener 12-6 in 10 innings before falling 17-14 on Saturday and 20-3 on Sunday. They exited the weekend with an 11-16 record, 2-4 inside the Mid-American Conference.
Ohio coach Rob Smith was not available for comment Sunday.
