Frank Solich was being obtuse, or playing coy, on Monday when he was asked if he would watch Tuesday night’s Mid-American Conference game between Ball State and Miami.
Solich, Ohio’s 14th-year head coach, said he didn’t know if he would watch the BSU-MU game despite the potential implications on that game for his own club.
Ohio (7-4, 5-2 MAC) needed a Miami loss to continue to have hope for the MAC East Division title. A Miami win would eliminate the Bobcats from division title consideration.
Even with a RedHawk loss, Ohio would need a win on Friday against visiting Akron (4-6, 2-5 MAC) AND a Buffalo loss at Bowling Green to win the MAC East and gain a spot in the 2018 MAC Championship game in Detroit on Nov.
