It’s been 50 years since Coach Bill Hess led the Ohio Bobcats to a Mid-American Conference championship. Fifty years mainly brought mediocrity, crushing defeats and close calls.
Fifty years later, it seems like the time for a title has arrived.
Ohio has been picked to win the MAC East Division and the MAC Championship Game in the MAC Football Media Preseason Poll. The Bobcats were picked to win the East Division in 2017, but poor play in losses to Central Michigan and Akron ruined the party.
The 2017 ’Cats ended the year 9-4 with a 41-6 victory over the UAB Blazers in the Bahamas Bowl.
