OAKLAND — Cordarrelle Patterson and the other members of the Raiders’ receiving corps got a bit of extra encouragement before Sunday’s game against the New York Giants in the form of a text message from Michael Crabtree.
“(He) told us go out there and ball out and do what you do,” Patterson said. “That’s motivation from a vet, a guy who has been in this league for a long time, just to text us and let us all know to do your thing.”
The Raiders receivers responded with either career highs or season-best games.
With Crabtree serving a one-game suspension for last week’s fracas against Denver and Amari Cooper suffering a concussion and a sprained ankle against the Broncos, the Raiders made up the difference by committee to form an effective passing game against the Giants.
