The Oakland Raiders took care of the cornerback position by drafting Gareon Conley in the first round. They continued to concentrate on the secondary in the second round, picking UCONN safety Obi Melifonwu.
According to the ominpresent Ian Rapoport, the Raiders almost picked Obi in the first round:
That’s not hard to believe. Melifonwu’s combine is already legendary. His size (6’4″, 224), speed (4.4), and agility (an absurd 44′ vertical and 11″9′ broad jump) combination is pretty much off Earthly charts. And now he’s a Raider — and happy to be one:
