Former Raiders second round DL Mario Edwards Jr claimed off waivers by Giants

After three seasons of chances from the Raiders, Mario Edwards Jr’s chances in Oakland ran out. But his NFL chances have not. After being waived by the Raiders on Saturday, he was scooped up off waivers by the Giants.

The former second round pick never played a full season with the Raiders over three seasons, including missing all but the final two games of the season in 2016. And when he did play, he wasn’t a difference maker.

Despite running with the first team defensive line all offseason and training camp, Edwards’s days were numbered with the drafting of defensive linemen Maurice Hurst and PJ Hall.
