You hear that coughing sound? It’s coming from Jacksonville, but it isn’t the Jaguars, it’s their West Coast counterpart Los Angeles Chargers who choked away what looked like a sure win as only the Chargers can.
It started in the waining seconds of the first quarter. Both teams were still scoreless and the Jaguars lined up the punt, direct snapped it to Corey Graham, who broke a tackle and took it 56 yards for the score. Former Chargers kicker Josh Lambo’s extra point was blocked to keep it at 6-0.
Late in the second quarter, Phillip Rivers dumped the ball off to running back Austin Ekeler who was just able to stay inbounds to go up the right sideline for a 28-yard touchdown to send the two teams to the locker room with the Chargers up 7-6.
