Getting the official NFL started with a bang are the Raiders who have cut ties with cornerback David Amerson according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
Amerson’s release saves the Raiders $6 million with no money left behind in dead money, making the decision somewhat of an easy one. His salary was to become guaranteed had he been on the roster as of Wednesday.
Once the Raiders’ top cornerback, the 26-year-old’s play dropped off last season. Then he was lost to a foot injury in week six and never returned.
The former second round pick was originally claimed by the Raiders off waivers from Washington two games into the 2015 season.
