The A’s took a significant hit Monday with the news that shortstop Marcus Semien will undergo wrist surgery Tuesday and miss a good chunk of the season.
A CT scan showed a fracture of the scaphold bone in Semien’s right wrist, the A’s said, and a screw will be inserted to help the healing process.
Dr. Steve Shin of the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles will perform the surgery, and the plan is for Semien to have another CT scan in six weeks and be re-evaluated by Shin in late May.
